Each child is different; as such, we have developed unique learning programs catered to your child’s individual needs, which your child may choose to participate in. Each child is encouraged to develop at an individual pace according to his or her unique characteristics.
Your child is free to explore and engage daily in sensory play, water and sand activities, art, puzzles, reading, block play, family corner, and outdoor play.

The Grange has helped my family, especially my daughter, with everything that she has been through. They are wonderfully supportive, and we couldn't have handled everything without them. The Grange in West Auckland is definitely a standout early childhood learning centre. My youngest child started at the centre this year and as soon as I walked in I got a nice homely, welcoming vibe! All the staff have been amazing in settling him in and I feel so confident he’s in the most capable hands while I’m at work. There are so many different learning opportunities to partake in and the children are stimulated both inside and out. Highly recommend!

We are the only centre in New Zealand that offers the Music for Young Children Sunrise programme, taught by a certified MYC teacher at no additional cost. Children learn solfege, beat and rhythm as well as learn to play a variety of musical instruments. Children who experience Music for Young Children often go on to formal music lessons when they begin school.

Our Out and About programme was specifically developed for four-year-old children. The aim of this programme is to provide regular opportunities for children to engage with nature and their local community. Once a week, the children will either walk or take a bus to visit the local community, library, playgrounds and other local amenities. Once they have arrived at their destination, the children get to enjoy a special picnic. We are also fortunate enough to have an estuary which backs onto our property, where the children can plant native trees like the Toi Toi, which were recently planted. The children also enjoy looking for bugs and native creatures in our estuary.
Our qualified Primary trained teacher has carefully designed a programme that meets primary school level 1 curriculum goals. Letters and sounds of the alphabet are taught through the ‘Jolly Phonics’ and ‘Reading Eggs’ Programme. Part of this programme includes breaking down words into syllables, an essential component of understanding how sounds make up words. Correct letter formation shapes are taught through the ‘Casey Caterpillar’ Handwriting programme, and children have the option of signing their names in their individualized writing books in the mornings.
Children are also provided with multiple opportunities to develop fine motor skills; learning to use scissors, cutting techniques, and developing pencil grip. We also make regular visits to Sunnyvale Primary school.
We provide physical movement activities as well as teach many skills needed for a variety of sports. In this programme, children have the opportunity to experience group athletics, ball skills, and team sports. They also enjoy being challenged by carefully designed obstacle courses.
Children experience mathematical concepts and develop a secure number sense through the provision of multiple, meaningful events and activities throughout the day. We focus on teaching them how to count, recognise numerals, one-to-one correspondence (matching a certain number of objects to a numeral), and following instructions such as finding the highest number of eggs during our annual Easter egg hunt.
We also teach children to measure the length of an object and compare the sizes of living creatures. These activities are optional, but we find that once the children begin to see the purpose of numbers, they are excited to participate.
